Hi Vikki. Thanks for your message and apologies for taking a few days to reply. It is not uncommon to have tightness in the shoulders nor to have one shoulder that feels (or actually is) higher than the other. I am sorry to say that the lady who gave you advice has no understanding of what Pilates really is as Pilates does much more than strengthen the core- It is about balancing the whole body through stretching and strengthening the muscles simultaneously! Classes 172, 181 and 182 (All 10 minutes classes with me) have some wonderful exercises to mobilize, stretch and open up the chest and shoulder area. Hi Amit,
I have recently had a massage as my shoulders are very tight and the left one feels much higher than the other. The lady told me I should be doing Yoga and not Pilates because Yoga will stretch my muscles and Pilates is more for core strengthening so it will only tighten my shoulders more. It this correct, or can you recommend certain exercise for me to do? I really like your website and really hope you can help.
