Amanda Free

A little bit about Amanda...

Amanda was first introduced to yoga in 1983 in Los Angeles. Her teacher was Bikram Choudhry, the founder of Bikram yoga. She thought her first class was hell… it was too hot and she felt like she couldn’t breathe! When she tried to leave, Bikram talked her back into the room. By the second class she was hooked and the rest, as they say, is history.


Over the next 12 years Amanda practiced regularly with Bikram when she was in LA and alone in her front room (with extra heaters) when she was in London. In 1995 she finally came home to the UK as Europe's first Bikram teacher and has been teaching the method since, keeping her practice up even through her two pregnancies.


Amanda has spent the last 30 years expanding her knowledge and she now teaches Vinyasa Flow classes at her Surbiton studio along with the hot yoga classes. Amanda lives happily with her two daughters. She is forever grateful to her friend Dotty Candler for introducing her to Bikram and changing her life for the better.
